Less Than 10 - If You Believe In Equality in Education, Get Behind This Project

Hi Guys.

I am super excited to announce that I was chosen to be part of a docu-photography series called "Less Than 10" by the wonderful & super talented Zara Singh!

This project highlights the BAME educators who are making a difference in the lives of children up & down the UK - It's a fantastic project that I feel excited to be a part of!

BAME teachers make up less than 10% of the teaching workforce with a measly 1% of headteachers being from a black background.

In a country that has over 70 million people, to have only 200 black headteachers shows we have a real equality issue in the Education system.

As I have spoken about in my blog before, BAME teachers often feel invisible & ignored.

Enter Zara Singh.

Zara, a primary school teacher based in London & a talented photographer decided to make a change.

Armed with her camera & her skills, she travelled up & down the UK taking stunning pictures of BAME educators and telling their stories. In our challenging times, her docu-project captures the dignity & resilience of teachers from different walks of life trying to help their students despite the horrible circumstances.
